The Tabitha Children Program was instituted by Resurrection Baptist Church to meet the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of school age children who come from poor and desperate family situations. Through this outreach program, approximately 50 to 60 children are fed a hot meal six days each week, with the opportunity to have Bible lessons and craft activities. For many of these children, it is their only meal of the day.
The children are also given vitamins to improve their overall health, and there have been significant improvements in the lives of these children since this program was started in 2001. Because of this program, children with dire needs and circumstances can be identified for the safe haven which Brenna's Home provides.
It is a joy to watch the children in the Tabitha Program develop and grow year after year during our visits. On several occasions throughout the year, they perform special musical offerings and participate in the worship services in various ways. They are always grateful for the love they have been shown and are always willing to express their affection to those people who have made a difference in their lives. The Tabitha Program receives 100% of its financial support from the Hyde Park Baptist Church, who also maintain a presence in Ukraine with encouragement, special programs, and regular mission trips. Tabitha Children Pictures The Youth Program includes the older teens and young adults in the church. The youth leaders plan and lead the contemporary youth service every Sunday evening. They also plan regular activities throughout the week and special events around the holidays. The older teens in Brenna's Home are involved with this group. During trips to Ukraine we have enjoyed participating in their regular services, game nights, pizza parties, and English Club (one of the programs which Tom and Michele Weight had led during their ministry in Ukraine).
The Blind Bible Study is a weekly Bible study that is held in an apartment complex where many blind people reside. The study has grown over several years from 5 or 6 individuals to 15 or 20 who now attend regularly. Some of these are parents of children who attend the Tabitha Program. There is a time of teaching as well a short challenge each week, followed by prayer time and fellowship
